My safari experience and professional qualification
My love of the African wilderness began in 2015, when I embarked on my first self-driving safari. Since that moment I have been captivated by the raw beauty and incredible wildlife of Subsaharan Africa.
In November 2023 I completed my FGASA Field Guide Training NQF2 with EcoTraining in Pridelands, becoming a qualified Field Guide for the Greater Kruger National Park. This qualification represents more than just a certification, it is my commitment to understanding and preserving the incredible wildlife of Africa.
The Field Guides Association of Southern Africa calls this qualification “Nature Site Guide”, and it sits at level 2 of the South African National Qualifications Framework. It takes a theory exam passed at 75 per cent or better, a separate practical assessment by an accredited assessor, and a valid first aid certificate.
Each journey has been a profound learning experience, deepening my understanding and appreciation of Africa’s complex ecosystems.
